October 30th, 2009 Friday Press in the Canyon - Public Welcome Sunrise, 7:30 AM - Palo Duro Canyon Public is welcome. Please call Rally Coordinator Chris Jones at 806-674-7016 or email him at chris@piratesofthecanyon.com for press reservations. See Also Field Rules and Palo Duro Canyon Map "Hoist Your Colors" - Public Welcome Sunset, 6:30 PM - John Stiff Park, Amarillo, Texas Hot Air Balloon Glow in Amarillo. Balloons will inflate after dark and use there fire burners to light up the night sky next to McDonald Lake nestled in John Stiff Park. Gates open at 5:00 PM and admission is free. Please come out and mingle with the Pilots and Crews as they set up to dazzle your eyes and cameras with a beautiful show. Dress warmly as the nights can get cold. See Also Field Rules and Balloon Park Map October 31st, 2009 Saturday "Legend of the Nickel" - Public Welcome Sunrise, 7:30 AM - John Stiff Park, Amarillo, Texas Pilots compete and chase the Quadnickel, Amarillo's oldest balloon. Quadnickel will take off from Amarillo Balloon Park and all other balloons will be allowed to inflate after she leaves port. The challenge lies in the pilot skills to follow and drop a marker closest to the landing spot of the Quadnickel. An Alternative Event has been scheduled if weather is not permitting to fly. See Also Field Rules and Balloon Park Map "Trick or Treat" - Public Welcome 3:00 PM - John Stiff Park, Amarillo, Texas Come meet all the Balloon Pilots as the prepare to gracefullt float across Amarillo. Now is the publics time to mingle amongst all the pilots and crews, get your Program autographed and see these graceful giants lift off and fly over Amarillo. There will be more scheduled events during this time so please check back often. See Also Field Rules and Balloon Park Map November 1st, 2009 Sunday "Pirates of the Canyon" - Signature Event Public Welcome Sunrise, 7:30 AM - Palo Duro Canyon Come join us as the sunrises over the Palo Duro Canyon and 30 Balloons lift off from the Amphitheatre Auxiliary Parking Log. Please come early as the traffic flow into and out of the canyon does get congested.
